Support is most useful when it respects a person’s agency. Clear boundaries and informed consent create a safer foundation for conversations about change, meaning, and personal growth.
Choice comes first
People should understand what a session includes, what it does not include, and that they can pause or change direction. A respectful guide makes space for questions and does not pressure a client.
Clarity protects trust
Discuss practical details early: fees, communication, privacy, cancellations, and the limits of the service. Coaching is not medical treatment, psychotherapy, or emergency support.
Know when to refer
Ongoing distress, risk of harm, severe symptoms, or a need for diagnosis belongs with an appropriately qualified professional. Responsible coaching includes knowing when another kind of care is needed.
